item. The Amazon price is the best online and about what I am used to paying; however, be sure and compare the prices, the double pack wasn't the best value when I ordered mine. One of the SensorPlugs is connected to a small decorative lamp sitting in "that deep useless corner" of the kitchen counter-top, it is bright enough to allow people to get a drink or snack. Many of these are at or near floor level, they work very well to eliminate stubbed toes and cursing during the night. The only problem around here is that they are highly addictive - one is not enough. We have several of these around the house. Occasionally, a new SensorPlug will need the spare (supplied) fuse installed immediately; otherwise, their life has been long and their track record has been very good.A majority of our SensorPlugs are connected to lights which are used as up-lights/night-lights to keep the traffic lanes through the house safe (these lights have small lower watt candelabra-base bulbs and stay very cool). It probably paid for itself the first year in electricity and annoyed-adult savings.I had been purchasing these locally until they became a seasonal.
Save a lot. Still in use after 6 months. Best for someone easy to forget to turn off lights.
When it arrived, I plugged it into our walk through laundry room (between garage and house), plugged in a little light in the corner on the counter, and it works like a charm. Then I saw this little sucker. Great function, well worth the money. I can't tell you how much money I spent on motion switches to replace wall switches. But I kept running into issues like 3-way wiring, florescent lighting, etc. I intend to buy more for other places that I don't spend a lot of time but where I often need light while there but forget to turn off.
The success rate of the device was about 5%. I placed it in my garage in the hopes that it would activate a light as I entered in the dark. I would not recommend this product. After owning this sensor for 3 years I have finally decided to unplug and recycle the unit. The sensor never really worked the way it was intended. This left me in the dark 95% of the time fumbling around with my keys.
They are setup so that the fan goes on for roughly 10 minutes every time I walk by the sensor. I am using two of the sensors to run fans in my living room and kitchen. They have worked well for this purpose over the last couple of months.
